WarsAWesome: Your Warsaw Weekend Guide (October 21-22)

The first event in the list is an important one, especially if you care about Warsaw’s Jewish heritage. The eighth event is definitely something I personally wouldn’t dare to try (but we have all different tastes don’t we?).

1) Rock for the last remains of Warsaw Ghetto

The Israeli rock band אל המשורר- (El HaMeshorer) will perform in a concert dedicated to the poems of the Jewish-Polish poet Władysław Szlengel, who was born and raised in the house at 14 Waliców Street and got killed during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

The city of Warsaw is currently discussing a proposal to destroy the building he lived in, which is one of the few remains of the ghetto period.

Szlengel’s life story and his writing are a symbol of the unique historical connections between the Poles and the Jews.
