The last weekend of May has always been ripe with must-attend events. It is no different this year, so we have prepared a selection of the ones on which you really can’t miss out. From concerts, silent discos, through plant and food markets, to celebrating Children’s Day. Yep, we are positive this is fixing to be a great time, folks.

1) Parties

Partying options are quite ripe now and it is all about your music preferences and expectations toward a venue.

  • The opening of Praga Centrum marks the beginning of a special period in Warsaw. Every week there will be concerts, food courts, outdoor chill zones in the very heart of Praga. The season kicks off with top DJs in the city: LuLu Malina, Mr Lex, and KAMP!. The venue and its concept were turned out to be a huge success last year, so we are hoping that this year will be even better for the organizers and for us – the fans

  • If you are all about live hip-hop performances TEDE in concert at Szerokie Bary is the place to be. Tede is the icon of more laid-back genre of Polish rap, he’s been on the stage for almost 3 decades now, and never has he failed to set the bar higher for the younger MCs.

  • Silent Disco in WIR will be the first regular event of this kind in 2021. Three channels to choose your music and Cool Cata, Pizza Boyz plus Vegan Ramen Shop to get your meal on the spot.  The cost of renting the headphones is 20 PLN.

2) Food

Obviously, there are a lot of great places to eat in the capital, but the following events carry a promise of weekend greatness:

  • Chocolate and Ice Cream Festival will supply us with a selection of gourmet confectionary.

When: from 10:00 to 20:00 on Friday and Saturday, May 28 and 29, and from 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday, May 30

  • Nocny Market is a food court beloved by everybody in the city. There will be classics from the previous 5 editions, exciting debutantes, 5 drink bars, redesigned chillout and music zones. We can’t wait for beetroot and goat cheese pizza from Włoski Strajk. It’s an absolute killer.

When: the venue will be open on all Fridays and Saturdays (17:00-01:00), and Sundays (17:00 – 23:00)

  • OFF Brzeska is a place to buy local produce, savor mouth-watering street food, and bounce to cool live beats. All this in the surroundings of an iconic marketplace – Bazar Różyckiego. The venue’s classic set that we wholeheartedly recommend comprises pyzy (a type of dumplings) and a shot of ice-cold vodka.

When: the venue will be open on all Fridays (17:00-01:00), Saturdays (17:00-02:00), and Sundays (13:00 to 20:00)

  • Slow Market is your choice when you are partying by the boulevards. This year it will be located on Płyta Desantu near Pomost 511 and Fala nad Wisłą which ensures that good food will be accompanied by music that will make your legs dance hard.

When: the venue will be open on all Fridays (18:00-02:00), Saturdays (12:00-02:00), and Sundays (12:00 – 22:00)

3) Children’s Day

So, technically Children’s Day falls on Tuesday, but… isn’t it just much nicer to celebrate it at the weekend? This is where we would go if we were looking for events to attend with kids:

  • Białołęcki Ośrodek Kultury (ul. van Gogha 1) is preparing a picnic with a stand for building your own aircraft models, a drone flight simulator, a battle game center, theater workshops, and an interactive performance of “Puss in Boots”. The event starts at 10:30 and ends at 17:00 on Saturday, May 29. Registration is required. FB event
  • Plażówka Saska (Wał Miedzeszyński 389) is organizing a workshop in which kids together with the chemist will devote their attention to frozen carbon dioxide. They will make a big bubble factory and see the dry ice fog. They will also freeze various items in dry ice.  The event starts at 15:00 on Sunday, May 30. FB event
  • Fala – Pawilon nad Wisłą (Płyta Desantu) is throwing a party with Mr. Lizard, one of the city’s favorite DJs, behind the decks. The event starts at 13:00 and ends at 16:00 on Sunday, May 30. FB event
  • Gospodarstwo Terapeutyczne Obórki 2 planned attractions for the whole family. From delicious food in food trucks to games for children and meetings with alpacas. The event starts at 10:00 and ends at 18:00 on Saturday, May 29. FB event

4) Plants

The last weekend of May is high time to make sure that your home plantations are ready to show their true colors. A great thing about the following events is that they are mostly organized by local communities. So if you want to expand the set of plants or need to stock up on home gardening accessories this is where to find quality products:

  • Greenville offers a wide array of potted plants, accessories, macrame, natural cosmetics, and plant services.

When: Saturday, May 29, from 10:00 to 18:00

  • Ursynów Flower Power and Bring Old, Get New are local eco-campaigns in which you can exchange old electronics (for example a phone or a blow-dryer) and batteries for plants.

  • Neighborly Plant Trade is a part of the Warsaw Neighbors’ Days agenda (FB event). In this case, you can get new plants or get rid of the ones that don’t fit in your collection anymore.

  • Green Garage Sale is exactly what the name tells us. In the venue, you can buy, sell, or exchange everything that falls within the categories of plants and (home)gardening accessories.

5) Shopping

The following events will be of interest to those looking for ideas for gifts, unique pieces of art, and bargains.

  • Books with masterpieces of illustration, both for children and adults, will be the center of the Book Festival in Koneser. The book fair will be complemented with interview sessions with the authors.

When: Sunday, May 30, from 11:00 to 18:00

  • Art Fair is the first chance this year to buy art directly from the artists who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. We strongly support initiatives that allow local artists to meet and sell directly to the public. Even if you are not determined to make a purchase, it is still worth seeing the state of contemporary Warsaw art.

  • Vintage Day is a chance to hunt down a unique piece of fashion at a bargain price. You can rest assured you won’t see these clothes in chain stores.

6) Jazz

Krzysztof Komeda is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding and most inspiring creators of Polish jazz. His influence is not limited to this genre, as the pianist has left behind memorable soundtracks. In order to celebrate his 90th birthday, recognized jazz experts will discuss his achievements, and the invited musicians (Wojtek Mazolewski and Apostolis Anthimos included) will try to recall the spirit of his extraordinary work.

When: Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30, from 19:00
