WARSAWESOME: YOUR WARSAW WEEKEND GUIDE

  JULY 17 – 19

Receive this Warsaw weekend guide in your mailbox. Every Thursday.

Warsaw is starting to organize anew its cultural and entertainment scene, so we recommend events in both the real and virtual world. If you decide to leave the house, remember to obey the rules of social distancing and put on masks where the regulations require it. Last but definitely not least, have fun and enjoy the blooming summer.

1) Leszek Możdżer’s concert at the Courtyard of Culture 2020

Registration is already closed, but if on Friday at 19:30 there are free places in the courtyard of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, you will be able to participate in this enthralling experience. Such an event cannot be missed -an outdoor concert in the city center Leszek Możdżer behind the piano. The title of the concert speaks for itself – Jazz Master. However, if the venue fills up before you get there, you can still go to the Chopin Recital on Plac Konesera. Earlier, you just might want to visit Bielany, where Kapela z Mostówki will showcase the evergreens of the city folklore ( more information).

When: Friday, July 17, from 20:00 to 22:00

Where: Krakowskie Przedmieście 15/17

FB event

2) Dance in the Times of Pandemic

Holidays in Warsaw have long been associated with dance floors at Bulwary. This year is a little different, though. We have new rules, so the question is how to live and dance by them. The answer is to be brought by an initiative driven by the Punkt Kontaktu collective. When you get to Bulwary you put on your headphones, start streaming from Facebook and the instructors lead you dancing all the way through. Interesting and so far quite enigmatic. Let’s see what comes out of it.

When: Saturday, July 18, from 19:00

Where: Bulwary Wiślane

FB event

3) Jam session your soundtrack for the holidays

A good jam session doesn’t get out of your head for years. We are also counting on this on Saturday in Fochy i Fanaberie. Anyone can join. Then we are all welcome to a retro dance party. Thursday jams in Bez Słowa in Stegny (also their Piano Wednesdays ) have already gained quite a reputation.

When: Saturday, July 18, from 20:00

Where: Fochy i Fanaberie – ul. Ząbkowska 3

FB event

4) StreetFood conquers Ursynów this time around

Foodtrucks continue their tour of the capital’s districts. After Rembertów and Praga, it’s time for Ursynów. This time the menu includes burgers, Belgian fries, and craft ciders.

When: Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19, from 11:00 to 20:00

Where: Aleja KEN 61

FB event

5) Brass Federacja fires up in Falenica

Brass Federacja is a band modeled on New Orleans brass bands. You can meet them on the streets of Warsaw, where they perform while walking. This time in Falenica they will present spectacular orchestrations and for some of them, they will have prepared spectacular choreographies. Definitely worthwhile since the boys not only play great but also talk about music eagerly and with sense of humor.

When: Friday, July 17, from 19:30 to 22:30

Where: Kinokawiarnia Stacja Falenica – ul. Patriotów 44B

FB event

6) Gardening in Warsaw aka plant city flowers on Muranów

Adopting urban pots and restoring their splendor was a big hit during the lockdown. Most of us have also planted something on their balconies or windowsills. And now, together with the POLIN Museum, we can help Muranów to bloom with fragrant flowers that attract butterflies. And all this under the watchful eye of Łukasz Skop, known from Dzień Dobry TVN. However, if you prefer to do something for your home, then an event for you is the kokedama (a decorative moss ball in which other plants grow) workshop in Grunt i Woda (more info). Prior registration is required for both events.

When: Saturday, July 18, from 10:00 to 11:00

Where: POLIN Museum – ul. Anielewicza 6

FB event

7) Electronic beats for breakfast in Praga Centrum

Every week we recommend breakfast markets and outdoor yoga as a pleasant start to the weekend. Let’s try it differently this time. Praga Centrum (probably you can already announce that next to Lunapark it’s the most interesting place of summer) invites you to breakfast with the best electronic music. First, you can eat, and if the beat sinks in well, you can go straight to the dancefloor.

When: Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, from 10:00 to 20:00

Where: Praga Centrum – ul. Szwedzka 2/4, Hall 10

FB event

8) Concerts, and discussion panels to celebrate the third birthday of the Oramics collective

Oramics support artists from broadly understood minorities in Eastern European countries. They will celebrate their third birthday by organizing concerts, debates, and online workshops. You can still watch the concert in a larger group and with a beer in hand in Pogłos bar.

When: Saturday, July 18, from 19:00

Where: Pogłos ul. Burakowska 12

FB event

9) Get to know the flavors of Chechnya

From this week on, every Saturday in Jazdów there will be culinary workshops bringing closer the flavors of national and ethnic cuisines of minorities living in Poland. We start with Chechnya. When cooking together, there will be time for stories and memories of the region. And all will end with shared consumption in the Solatorium garden. Registration required.

When: Saturday, July 18, from 15:00 to 18:00

Where: Solatorium – ul. Jazdów 3/9

FB event

10) Antique books and vinyls in Elektrownia Powiśle

Wherever Wielki Antykwariat Warszawski opens its doors in the capital, it enjoys great popularity. If you want to buy a real rarity from vinyl records and books, you just have to be there.
