IS UBER THE BEST TAXI APP in WARSAW? MAYBE NOT. Let’s find out!

While UBER is the obvious choice for most of us, you may be paying more than you need to.

In this review, we’re gonna compare several apps offering taxi-like service in Warsaw (Poland).

In order to check the best price and the interface, we tested the route from the Palace of Culture and Science (plac Defilad 1) to Chopin Airport (Żwirki i Wigury 1).

Which taxi app was the best (and the cheapest)? We ordered this list from worst to best.

Let’s find out!

5) iTaxi

The interface is ok, and it gives the possibility to book a “quiet ride”. Unfortunately, it does not provide a key feature: price estimation.

3) mytaxi (now FREENOW)

From now on ranking the apps got more difficult. FREENOW is a good app, and the drivers are all licensed taxi drivers. But the rides are more expensive than with the next apps on the list.

It’s worthy to use the app – even if just once – because you get a 20 zł discount on your ride with the code: federico.mor9

Ease of Use: 5/5
App Available in English? YES
Try App without registration: NO
Payment: Credit Card or PayPal
Estimated Rate: 18/21 zł
Waiting Time: 2 minutes

Extra: the possibility to make a list of favorite drivers.
Who can drive: only licensed taxi drivers.

2) Uber

You know UBER. It’s good and reliable (at least in my experience). The base price is actually the lowest of all apps. I’ve been “kind of scammed” a couple of times though. Once, the driver canceled the ride 15km after dropping me off and I ended up paying double the rate. Another time, I had to cancel the ride because the driver wasn’t coming (so I was charged 10 PLN).

Both times, however, I got the money back after contacting the customer service.

One more thing, if you have a foreign UBER account, you can create a new Polish account and get the welcome discount of 10 zł with the code: federicom986ui

Ease of Use: 5/5
App Available in English? YES
Try App without registration: NO
Payment: Credit Card, Cash, Android Pay, PayPal.
Estimated Rate: 15.84 zł
Waiting Time: 3 minutes
Welcome Discounts: NO
Who can drive: anybody registered as a driver.

1) Taxify

Finally, we have taxify. I decided to write this post after finding out how cheap this service is. Moreover, you get a 50% discount on the first 10 rides! Awesome.

If you want to pay even less, you can get a 10 zł discount for a ride with the code: PRLR9

Ease of Use: 5/5
App Available in English? YES
Try App without registration: NO
Payment: Cash or Credit Card
Estimated Rate: 20/22 zł (10/11 zł after discount)
Waiting Time: 3 minutes
Welcome Discounts: 50% on first 10 rides! (max -15zł)
Who can drive: anybody registered as a driver.

Conclusion

In our experience, taxify had the best rates lately. It is not only the cheapest app but it is also super easy to use.

Please remember that the tariffs fluctuate and our little analysis does not provide the best picture at all times.

The ideal thing to do is to download both taxify and UBER and check which one offers the best rate at the moment of booking.
