WARSAWESOME:

WEEKEND IN WARSAW

JANUARY 29 – 31

This might be the last weekend with such heavy pandemic restrictions. We would love to see more places open in February. It would mean more weekend event options with the days getting longer at the same time. However, one of the biggest days of the year is just ahead of us. WOŚP Sunday distances any previous weekend day by an order of magnitude. Therefore we prepared a condensed weekend guide with recommendations of the best events on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

If you would like to receive our weekend guide by email every week, please enter your email address below. Delivery every Thursday.

Friday: film and a beat

Oh, Friday – isn’t it the day to finally let go of all anxieties, urgencies, and schedules of the work-week? Well, we sure hope you answered with a resounding yes. If so, then you’d most likely enjoy two ways of spending a Friday evening: A) chilling with a movie or B) bouncing to quality beats with a drink in your glass. (spoilers: you can opt for both!)

For those opting for A, we wholeheartedly recommend The Magic Mountain (dir.  Eitan Efrat, Daniel Mann). It is a documentary adaptation of Thomas Mann’s masterpiece inviting the audience to enter the mountain in search of healing. Wonderful pictures and ambient soundtrack. The ticket costs 10PLN. The film will be available in the original English version with Polish subtitles.

when: the latest you can start watching is 18:00 on Friday, January 29

VOD platform

For party people repping group B, we are asking to show love to Pogłos. The club is determined to survive the pandemic but needs our support. This weekend you can tune in to the stream of Syntetyk DJs with visuals from Mgła 7 and WLD. The squad plays electronic beats close to techno (you can check them out here). Your ticket to that party is a donation to Pogłos. Let’s keep the party alive!

Saturday: follow the lights and experience illumination

Saturday – probably quite snowy, but not too cold. So during the day, it should be fun to have some fun on sleigh or cross-skis. And after you warm up at dinner, why won’t you watch the most iconic light show in the city? Multimedia Fountain Park on Podzamcze opens the winter season and provides enough open-air space to respect the pandemic restrictions. It is a proud member of our 35 AMAZING THINGS TO DO IN WARSAW IN 2021 list, so that is enough of a recommendation.

when:  on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from January 29, until mid-February; at 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, and 20:00

Sunday: the day to play with WOŚP!

WOŚP is the most spectacular charity initiative in Poland. This year it is collecting money for laryngology, otorhinolaryngology, and head diagnostics. In order to celebrate the 2021 campaign finale, there will be a plethora of online events ranging from group winter swimming+sauning (FB), through concerts (full list), to silent disco (FB). Traditionally there are also auctions of rare items from the famous. You can find them here. And here you can donate to a good cause.
